“Mar Paul Chittilapilly, bishop emeritus of Thamarassery and former bishop of Kalyan is widely known as an eminent canonist and an expert in the historical and liturgical matters of the Syro Malabar Church… The study brings to light the fact that present day Syro-Malabar Church needs to be re-organized. Its territorium proprium is very limited and therefore, extension of jurisdiction to at least all of India is an urgent necessity. Born on 7th February 1934 at Mattom. Trichur, Paul joined the Minor Seminary in 1953 after his School and College Studies. He belongs to the first batch of Philosophers in Carmelgiri. He had his Licentiate in Theology from Urban University, Rome. He was ordained Priest in 1961 and continued his studies in Rome and obtained his Doctorate in Canon Law (1966) from Lateral! University, Rome. He was present in Rome during the Second Vatican Council. He served as Professor in Vadavathoor Seminary. Later, he was Chancellor, Proto-Synchellus, College Manager in Trichur. First Bishop of Kalyan (1988-1997), Bishop of Thamarassery (1997-2010). Served K.C.B.C and S.M.M.A.C. at various capacities. At present, he stays at Alphonsa Bhavan. Thamarassery. This book comes out as his Sacradotal Golden Jubilee gift.
