ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. K. T. Chandy S. J. had his agricultural and environmental studies up to PhD at Sam Higginbottom University, Allahabad and at G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. He worked 25 years at the Indian Social Institute, New Delhi, of which he was Head of the Agriculture and Environmental Education Programme for 10 years. While working at Indian Social Institute he was also the Governing Body Member and Chairman of the Technical Monitoring Committee of AFPRO, Delhi for ten years. In 1994 he participated in a week-long training on “Effective Negotiation Techniques” in Amsterdam. In 1995 he was one of the twelve-member Indian Team elected and invited by the Chinese Government to have a one month hands-on-experience of their Innovative Bio-technological Research Projects. He was the only member from India for the Papua New Guinea World Conference on “Global Forest Situation” in 1996. He was the founder member and teaching staff of two colleges in Nagaland, St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama and St. Xavier’s College, Jalukie; in the second one he was also the Principal from 2006-08. He also worked as Associate Director of Catholic Health Association of India, Secundarabad from 2008-10. In 2010 he was appointed Professor at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar in the Rural Management Stream, teaching Agriculture and Environmental Management and Socio-Economic Analysis. He also worked as a member of the Selection Board and Librarian of the same Institute. In 2012 he was deputed to Mozambique to set up a Rural Management Institute. Based on his field level experience in India and abroad he has developed 92 appropriate technologies and developmental paradigms. In 2013 he was back in India and was appointed as Librarian at Vidyajyoti College, Delhi where he continued his writing of booklets on various topics under agriculture and environment management and articles on “Invisible Injustices”. He has authored so far 12 books besides the 727 booklets classified under 79 subject divisions in Agricultural, Animal Husbandry and Environmental Sciences. Throughout his active career of 40 years so far, he was in contact with hundreds of Social Activists all over India.
