This book is an elaborate study on the rights-based approaches to development leading to social inclusion of the excluded communities.
It is the result of five years of research undertaken in 20 villages in Kalyanpur Block of Kanpur district in Uttar Pradesh. The study was on the relevance of rights-based approaches to development as promoted by international and national development organisations.
The author is an ardent advocate of animation approach for promoting community organisations since the late 1980s. He has been a resource person to build capacities of individuals and organisations promoting this strategy.
He has been able to establish the access and control of resources by the poorest of the poor if they are motivated on their rights.
The findings enumerated in this work have universal applicability and the success strategies can be replicated.
This book is an essential tool for development practitioners, social work institutes and non-government and government organisations promoting development.
