Description

The cover, imaged by Miss Rachna Jaitly and Sr. Alzira Fernandes SMA, is according to the Mahabharata tradition. When Duryodhana (leader of the Adharma forces) and Arjuna (leader of the Dharma forces) come to Lord Krishna for help, the Lord asks them to choose either Him unarmed or His army, cavalry and wealth. Arjuna chooses the Lord as his charioteer and Duryodhana the Lord’s army. In the Kurukshetra, Arjuna triumphs over the Adharma forces with the Lord’s guidance. His advice to Arjuna was this: Sarva kalesu mam anusmara yudhyaca (= “Always remember me and fight”) (BG.8:7).
We Religious follow Jesus renouncing parents, spouses, wealth etc.(Mt. 10:37-38; 19:27-29). hoping to find in Him everything we need to collaborate with Him in his ‘Project Kingdom’ which is equivalent to the Dharma of the Bhagavad Gita and to the Indian World-family Ideal (Vasudhaiva kutumbakam). Project Kingdom implies the destruction of the Anti-Kingdom {Adharma) forces and the establishment of the Kingdom (Dharma). Alluding to this project, Jesus said: “He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (Jn. 15:5). Paul echoes this sentiment of the Master, saying: “I can do all things in Him who strengthens me” (Phil. 4:13), and “If God is for us, who is against us?”(Rom. 8:31). The cover tries to capture this NT ideal in the Indian context through the Bhagavad Gita.
